Mona El Mousfy is a Lebanese architect who moved from Paris to the United Arab Emirates in 2002, taught for twelve years at the American University of Sharjah, and founded SpaceContinuum, a research-led practice concerned with how space carries shared social practice. She has been architecture consultant to the Sharjah Art Foundation since 2005, designing successive Biennial installations and then the Foundation's permanent Art Spaces at Al Mureijah, five new buildings threaded through six restored historic houses, which was shortlisted for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2019. Her later work is largely adaptive reuse, including the 2020 conversion of Sharjah's 1970s Flying Saucer. She helped found the Sharjah Architecture Triennial in 2017 and remains its adviser.
