The second of two French architects credited only by initial — M. Godard — for the Darul Aman Palace at Kabul, built for Amanullah Khan between 1925 and 1927 as the seat of a parliament he never got to convene. Amanullah’s invitation drew twenty-two German and French architects to the site, and almost none of them, this one included, left any further trace in the sources available to this pool: no dates, no other credited work, not even a first name. What survives is the credit itself, naming a Godard alongside another Godard as co-designers of a three-storey neoclassical shell of arcades and a curved bay — proof that the authorship the record does preserve was shared, even where the biography behind it was not.
