Claudia Uccelli Romero

1965–— · Unaffiliated

A Peruvian architect who runs Oficina Uccelli Arquitectos in Lima and has built most consistently for archaeology, Uccelli is known above all for the Museo Cao at the El Brujo complex in La Libertad, commissioned by the Fundación Wiese and built in 2008–09 alongside three Moche pyramids. Her account of the project turns on a search for an aesthetic understanding of the cultures of Peru's north coast: the plan is organic, derived from Moche domestic layouts, and the building is assembled from five modular units whose voids are as compositional as their solids — the void, she writes, is part of the composition the way silences are part of a piece of music. Exposed concrete is the only material. Wikidata carries no entity for her; the biography and project data here are taken from the published project sheets cited below.
