Kundoo graduated from Sir J. J. College of Architecture in Bombay in 1989 and moved almost immediately to Auroville, the experimental township in Tamil Nadu, where she built for a decade on the premise that the interesting question is not what a building looks like but what it costs in labour, energy and imported material. Her answers are hand-made: fired-in-place mud houses, ferrocement shells, terracotta vault soffits, achieved with unskilled local labour. The Wall House of 2000 was rebuilt full-size by hand for the 2012 Venice Biennale. She took a doctorate at TU Berlin in 2008 and has taught at Parsons, Queensland, Camilo José Cela in Madrid and, since 2024, as professor at TU Berlin. None of her buildings has a Wikidata entity.
